About Discover Credit Cards
Before the CARD Act took effect in February of 2010, Discover credit card holders essentially won the credit card lottery. While other major credit card companies raised rates on their customers to as much as 29.99%, Discover opted to take the high road. Because Discover treated its customers better than all its competitors, I consider Discover to be the best credit card company.
Presently, Discover credit cards come with varying promotions. Some Discover cards come with long 0% introductory rates on balance transfers and usually shorter 0% rates on purchases. These offers can prove very valuable, especially 0% balance transfer offers which can help reduce credit card debt and eliminate interest expenses for 15 months.
Apart from 0% interest rates, all Discover cards come with some kind of credit card rewards. The most popular Discover cash back credit cards offer up to 1% cash back on all purchases and 5% cash back in categories that change four times a year. However, the Discover gas credit card, which is now called the Open Road card, offers a full 2% cash back on gas and restaurant purchases year round. All Discover cash back bonus cards come with no annual fees.
Discover also offers two airline credit cards. The Discover Miles card comes with no annual fee and offers a very solid 12,000 bonus miles to new card members. Escape, a higher end miles card, carries an annual fee, but offers a larger sign up bonus and more opportunities to earn miles. |
